Farewell Katie Hunt, Alumni and Community Manager
Friday, 16 December 2022
Katie leaves Carey after five years as our Alumni and Community Manager, but her wonderful contribution to Carey and the OCGA will be remembered for many years to come.

Her wealth of knowledge and experience in the not-for-profit sector, specialising in philanthropy and relationship building, certainly enabled her to hit the ground running when she commenced at Carey back in 2017. Katie immediately made a big impression on everyone she met, with her passion for community and connecting Carey’s alumni.

Katie revitalised the alumni program, introducing some exciting new offerings for alumni such as TEDx-style skills workshops, targeted initiatives for Carey’s young alumni and a range of online offerings during COVID-19 lockdowns. She also established links between the OCGA and Swinburne University as a means to strengthen the relationship and pathways for our graduating students. More recently, Katie and the alumni team enabled a fantastic program for our Middle and Senior School students, ‘Be Like Her’, which brought in a team of remarkable female alumni breaking down barriers in male-dominated fields.

Throughout her time at Carey, Katie has demonstrated impressive leadership in developing relations and working toward a relevant and contemporary model for Carey’s alumni program into the future. Within the Community Engagement team, Katie has been a wonderful role model of teamwork and dedication to her work.

Katie, we will miss your humour and positivity, stories of your rogue dog, outstanding karaoke skills and sense of fun, but most of all we will miss your commitment to your role, thoughtfulness, ability to listen, your infinite patience in the most challenging situations, your consummate professionalism and your friendship.

We wish Katie well as she leaves to take up an exciting opportunity at St Vincent’s Institute of Medical Research as their Senior Philanthropy Manager.
