It has been a wonderful year for the Old Carey Grammarians Association. We proudly sponsored the 2024 Carey International Women's Day Breakfast, where many Carey students, staff, parents and alumni heard an inspiring address from Hannah McNicol (2014). ![]() We held the inaugural Senior School Musical: Alumni and Past Families Night, which saw over 130 members of the Carey Performing Arts community reminiscing and reconnecting, before viewing a production of the 2024 Carey Senior School Musical: Legally Blonde. We hosted a Business and Finance Network event allowing alumni in these industries to strengthen their professional network, whilst hearing an inspiring address from then CEO of 7-Eleven Australia, Angus McKay: We provided Social Impact Grant funding to Amber's White Light, supporting youth mental health, the James Macready Bryan Foundation, supporting young people living with acquired brain injuries, the Aftershock, raising funds for cancer research and Heartfelt Photography, supporting families who have experienced stillbirth or have children with serious or life threatening illness The Old Carey Grammarians Football Club's Senior Men's Team won a Premiership for the first time in over a decade: We launched a pilot program of University Coffee Catch Ups, where alumni can collect a free coffee and muffin while connecting with other Carey alumni studying at their University Campus. The 2024 Old Carey Performing Arts Club's production of Seussical, featuring Carey alumni in the Cast, Band, Crew and Creative Team received rave reviews! The Old Carey Hockey Club reached their Grand Final for the second year in a row: We provided funding for the Old Carey Orchard, which is now home to 15 trees in the Carey Junior School. We hope that this Orchard will provide generations of Carey students with the opportunity to learn about sustainability and First Nations agricultural practices. Additionally the OCGA Council have worked hard to further strengthen the Governance of our Association. This year we re-drafted the OCGA Code of Conduct and Council Handbook and in line with our deep commitment to Child Safety, introduced a Safeguarding Recruitment Policy, Safeguarding Policy, Safeguarding Incident Response Plan and a Child Safety Code of Conduct. We prioritised training and upskilling our Council Members, and undertook training in Incident Management, Governance Standards and Child Safety. Thank you to all our Committees, Clubs, volunteers, sponsors and Members for all your support and efforts this year. We now look forward to a wonderful year of OCGA Centenary Celebrations in 2025. Our year will kick off with our 2025 Annual General Meeting. The notice for this Annual General Meeting and a Call for Nominations to join the OCGA Council can be found on the OCGA Website. We are looking for members to join the OCGA Council or one of our committees in 2025. There are vacancies in the following areas; Council, Finance Committee, Social Impact Committee, Young Alumni Committee, Careers and Networking Committee, Centenary Planning Committee and Golf Day Working Group.
