Last Friday, 8 March, the OCGA proudly sponsored Carey's 2024 International Women's Day Breakfast. It was a truly outstanding event. To view all of the event photos, please head to our photo gallery here; https://ocga.com.au/#photogallery The crowd in attendance were fortunate to hear from incredible guest speaker Hannah McNicol (2014) who delivered an inspiring and thought-provoking address and explored this year's International Women's Day theme #CountHerIn: Invest in women. Accelerate Progress. We were informed by Hannah's extensive experience in international development, specifically in the area of women's economic empowerment (WEE). Hannah opened her presentation stating, "International Women’s Day is an important date in the calendar around the world. The day simultaneously celebrates the social, economic, cultural, and political achievements of women globally but also reflects on the rights that have been fought for and must continue to be for in the face of historical and continued oppression. As you will know, the theme for IWD 2024 is Count Her In: Invest in Women. Accelerate Progress. This is a great theme because women's economic empowerment is central to a gender equal world. While important progress has been made, women still face significant obstacles to achieving equal participation in the economy."
