Australia Day Honours 2023 – Carey past Principal Phil De Young (2002–10)

Every year the Australian of the Year Awards recognise and celebrate our diversity and honour highly respected and inspiring Australians who lead as role models for their communities, their state and the nation. This year the OCGA are proud to congratulate Carey past Principal Phil De Young (2002–10). Phil De Young has been awarded a Medal of the Order of Australia (OAM) in recognition of his service to independent school education. Phil was Carey's sixth Principal and was an integral part in providing balance for students by increasing the number of co-curricular activities on offer, including sport, music and drama. He was passionate about nurturing and educating the whole child, and his legacy continues at Carey. We sincerely congratulate Phil for this well deserved recognition of his hard work, leadership and vision.
