In 1925 Foundation Scholar Rod Booth wrote to the then Chronicle Editor, SL Hickman, that there should be an “Old Boys Association”.  An informal meeting was held at Mr Hickman’s home – of which there is no record – and the twelve people present felt it was a good idea and should go ahead, which it officially did on 10 July 1925.

Today the Association is widespread and diverse, made up of over 18,000 Alumni. Carey maintains a close relationship with its alumni body through the OCGA. This group is an engaged and diverse community of alumni, made up of over 18,000 members. The OCGA is represented locally, domestically and internationally, with reunions taking place nationally and internationally each year. In addition to regular reunions, we engage with our alumni through invitations to key Carey events including our new Young Alumni program which provides mentorship, careers nights and opportunities for new Old Carey Grammarians.
